TEACHING

Experiences listed here include teaching opportunities, workshops, and awards I've participated in and been award from the start of graduate school to the present.  Additional, unlisted, experiences include roles as a Tutoring and Laboratory Teaching Assistant for General and Organic Chemistry courses during my undergraduate studies.

Guest Lecturer (OSU)

Spring 2022: I was invited to guest lecture on my postdoctoral research in "Biomaterials and Biointerfaces" (BioE 351) and teach two courses on infrared spectroscopy of surfaces for "Surface Analysis" (BioE 445).

Summer Institute on Scientific Teaching Fellow

July 2019:  Was selected to participate in the Summer Institute on Scientific Teaching at the University of Oregon.  Received considerable training in "backward curriculum design", designing student assessment, and developing the instruction environment to be inclusive and equitable.

PURS Educator and Co-Administer

March 2017 - June 2019: The Presidential Undergraduate Research Scholars (PURS) program provides chemistry, physics, earth sciences, mathematics, and computer science undergraduate student with an opportunity to acquire funded research experience throughout the academic year. The program was focused on expanding access to research opportunities for students from underrepresented groups in STEM and providing relevant training in science communication, writing, and other relevant skills. My role included participating in the soliciting and selection of applicants, designing the curriculum and teaching the classroom portion of the PURS program.

Graduate Student Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Chemistry

2015: I was awarded this honor for my teaching efforts in the Physical Chemistry Laboratory Series during AY 2014-2015.

Graduate Educator

P-Chem Lab Series

September 2013 – March 2015: I was a graduate educator for the upper division P-Chem Lab series (Chem 415, 416, 417) at the University of Oregon. My responsibilities included managing students in lab, providing in lab instruction, and assessing students' work.
